I paid $4 for THIS!

Eric | October 27, 2005

So I tried out one of the new McDonalds Premium “chicken” sandwiches. I liked this for a couple of reasons:

  • Better-tasting roll
  • Better meat, almost as good as Chick-fil-a
  • Unlike McDonald’s other chicken sandwiches, this one actually contains chicken.
  • I didnt like this because:

  • It was sold by itself
  • Small size
  • Price
  • I don’t think I would buy it again, its quite a bit of money for not enough food. It wouldn’t cost McDonalds that much to add fries and a drink at the same price, ya?

The Brits will require the use of a biometric ID card for all their citizens by 2010. The cards cost 35 pounds and contain fingerprint and facial recognition information. I wonder if the US will have the guts to follow suit….

I am waiting for this program to come to the United States so I can welcome it with open arms. It makes sense, think about it:

    • More reliable ID
    • Less forgery
    • Less ID theft

Lets see how biometric ID and TIA could prevent another 9/11, or make life better for you:

  • Identifying illegal aliens who do not possess such ID when they attempt to receive public services.
  • Identifying people who have overstayed their visa
  • Shorter lines at the airport
  • Top-down integration with financial information can make purchasing faster and simpler
  • …..more?
  • Unfortunately, privacy advocates don’t like it. After all, the government may get your……shopping list? Travel records? Well folks, marketing companies get this, and no one bats an eye. So do credit card companies. So whats the beef?

    The Big Apple

    Eric | October 24, 2005

After a bit of a break from photography, I offer my two-person audience a picture of Times Square in New York City.

And no, I do not have a *thing* for Chase Bank.

Heres the Chrysler Building in the distance:

    Finally, one of Central Park:

    More Wierd News

  • Streakers are now museum exhibits, at least in Germany, where a museum visitor removed his clothing and declared himself to be a “guest exhibit” among antique pictures of Jesus Christ at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Cologne. Good for the guest that this didn’t take place later in the year, when he would have been a shruken exhibit.
  • American rapists should borrow a page from the French playbook, and plant other mens sperm. From the article:

A 48-YEAR-OLD Frenchman who is accused of rape collected other men’s sperm from used condoms and left traces at the crime scene in order to confuse police, justice officials said today.

Terps be warned: lock up your used condoms.

  • Witches can get tax breaks for magical training, at least in the Netherlands. The issue was raised by a Dutch actress, who enrolled in a course on potions and spells. I wonder if Hogwarts is tax deductible……
  • Hurrican Rita made unlikely bedfellows of a cat and a squirrel. The squirrel, orphaned by the storm, was taken in and nursed by the cat along with its own kittens. I still hate cats
  • Wal-Mart rolls back college degrees as well as prices, but it doesnt roll back the prices of degrees, at least not mine. Wal-Mart heiress Elizabeth Laurie apprently paid Elena Martinez $20,000 over almost 4 years to write term papers and complete other assignments. Laurie is the grand daughter of Wal-Mart co-founder Bud Walton. Her surrendered degree was in Communication from the USC Annenberg School. Communication is still a joke major.

Can we have a not-so-quiet riot?

    Eric | October 20, 2005

Tonight, the Terps play Virginia Tech at 7:45.

Of course, the University is stressing the severe and arbitrary consequences of post-game “rioting”.

If the University really wishes to defend its image, it must allow an alternative celebration that the students organize and manage. Sadly, that costs money the Administration would rather spend on construction and $1200 chairs for computer labs.

If there is a riot, I’ll be sure to post pictures and videos.

    On a different note:

My page stats make me think someone is stalking me……..

    COOL!!!!!

But have some guts and write to me, ok?

    My take on Miers

    Eric | October 16, 2005

I am not going to write much about Harriet Miers because, there isn’t much to write about. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Think about it. There wasn’t much of a fight over Roberts because the Dems were hoping Bush would send them another Bork or Owens to filibuster.

Miers received her Bachelors and Juris Doctorate degrees from Southern Methodist University. She worked in private law firms as a commercial litigator. Miers served as Assistant to the President and Staff Secretary during Bushs first term, and was appointed to the position of Chief of Staff for policy in 2003. She replaced Gonzalez as White House counsel in 2004.

Many Conservatives have spoken out against Miers for her lack of a clear ocnservative agenda. Clearly, this is idiotic. How can a person, who is held with great confidence from the President, not have a set of clear conservative views? Second, why the hell would the conservatives want a candidate whose record makes them so easy to attack? The Dems made no real effort to block Roberts, does anyone really believe they would let a Pryor, Owen or Brown through without a tremendous fight?

I have frequently said the the Left will not be happy with any conservative nominee until he performs an abortion as part of his confirmation hearing. I also believe that no conervative will be happy with Miers unless she butchers an abortion doctor as part of her hearing. Ultimately, what this candidate truly believes is in her mind, and perhaps to a lesser extent, her heart; not in her mouth.

Because of this, I firmly believe that it Miers is a real propnent of the conservative agenda. Her lack of a right-wing paper trail makes her unlikely to encounter any opposition due to her views. This makes her a perfect post-Roberts nominee.

    Power to the People

    Eric | October 4, 2005

A new law in Florida allows citizens to defend themselves of attacks in anywhere they are allowed to be legally. From the article:

“Florida’s “stand your ground” law, which took effect Saturday, removes a duty on the part of citizens to retreat in the face of an attack as long as they are in a place they have a legal right to be, including a public street or their place of business.

It also gives immunity from criminal or civil charges to a shooter as long as the person shot is not a police officer. “

Of course, the Brady Bunch is not amused, handing out leaflets with such hysterics as

“Please avoid unnecessary arguments with locals. Starting today, they may be more inclined to shoot you

This law fills an important deficiency in our legal system. This is, of course, that you may be prosecuted and jailed for defending yourself and your family from a dangerous intruder.

The Brady bunch, like many anti-gun groups, want you to believe that the police will protect you from dangerous criminals. But this is not the case. Ask Freda Elliott. She took out restraining orders against her ex husband in the courts, was watched over by friends and co-workers and called 911 just like the Brady Bunch says we all should. Ultimately, she was gunned down in her home while crying into the phone to a 911 operator. Or, does the Brady Bunch expect women in her position to use their shoes in their defense?

I have no wish to become the victim of the savage maniacs whom the Brady Bunch seeks to empower – coming home to find that members of my family were slaughtered while hiding in the closet, waiting for help that was too little too late.

Make your home a Castle, not a Chateau.

In spite of arguments to the contrary, the Second amendment is not a relic, and it does not exist to protect hunting rights. It exists to protect citizens from an all-powerful ever-intrusive government. This is why it is second, not seventh, eighth, or tenth. Liberalized gun control such as this preserves individual freedom and individual responsibility. Lets drop the Bradys and stand our ground.

    SCOTUS 2.0

    Eric | October 3, 2005

President Bush has nominated Harriet Miers to replace Sandra Day O’Connor on the Roberts Court. I will post more later this week when I have time to do some research. Miers, the first woman to head the Texas bar, is currently White House counsel and has never served as a judge.
