A scientist responsible for low-cost vaccines was denied an entry visa to receive an award for technological achievement. Why one may ask? Because the man in question is from Cuba.
Americas Cuba policy does not make sense to me. On one hand, we are opposed to the Communist political system at work there. On the other, we like to shine the “light of freedom” to all corners of the globe. Why the difference? I have no idea, and I can’t find any realy reason behind it.
Ultimately, regime change in Cuba will come about through exchange, not isolation. Castro has outlasted every U.S. president since JFK under a containment policy. Why then do we pursue it when the Communist regime is strengthened by it? Why not show the Cuban people what democracy can do first hand? I have no idea, and I doubt anyone can offer one.

Credit card companies are reduced to cold-calling elevator phones. Yes, despite record levels of mailing, over a billion in the first quarter, the companies believe they need more exposure.
This comes on record levels of consumer debt. Credit card blanaces can easily drive the up balance an additional $1,000 or more. This does not include over limit fees or late payment fees. On average, Americans carried over $9,000 in credit card debt. College students start their working careers with as much as $20,000 in debt.
I have no credit card debt, no student loan debt. I pay for college by working part time. Yes, it’s taken an extra year for me to finish, but its well worth the financial security upon graduation. Besides, its nice to have work experience in exchange for a couple of points off my GPA, but that is an issue for another post.
Whats next? Beaming ads into our dreams?
Joe Wilson is visiting campus on Wednesday at 8. I’ll arrange to get some photos and a recording for a little project of mine.

Why in the world would anyone vote for Hillary Clinton?
I asked a couple of my peers. WLL, a 23 year old college student would for two reasons. One, she is a woman. Two, she is married to Slick Willie. Dave, a 22 year old Computer Science major wants a woman president like her to “put some common sense in politics”.
Another friend, 32 year old Kevin would too, also to get Slick Willie back in the White House.
Gary, a 35-yr old business owner would vote for Hillary. He loves the Clintons because Slickie had a connection to the needs of the working man. I guess he thinks Hillary will have one too.
Two of these guys identify as republican, one as a democrat and the other as an independent.
Others say it depends on who she is running against, making it an up or down thing.
Interestingly, no one could associate her with policy. They associated her will Slick Willie, or wanted her because she is a woman.
My generation is obviously insane. Here is a woman, with next to no political common sense, who my peers are clamoring for, just because she is a “she”. Feels like the Chewie defense doesn’t it?
As far as “connecting to the working man” goes, remember HillaryCare (and why it doesnt work)?
From the article:
“The TennCare concept was for the state to operate like an HMO, providing health insurance to those who needed it and paying the premiums for those who couldn’t afford it. The idea was even sold as a cost savings because it would provide “managed care” (volume discounts, preventative care, etc.). TennCare opened enrollment to hundreds of thousands of people who did not qualify for Medicaid, even to some six-figure earners. Costs quickly exploded, and despite attempts to tighten eligibility rules the program still covers 1.3 million of the state’s 5.8 million people.
Left-wing legal activists have sued the state with impunity to underwrite the cost of nearly unlimited care. A Nashville non-profit called the Tennessee Justice Center has hamstrung reforms for years by suing to enforce a series of consent decrees, some of which predate TennCare.”
So folks, TennCare, the embodiment of Hillarys Government-as-parent ideals, drove the state to the brink of financial collapse because of lawsuits. Her system won’t work, and ours isnt bad as-is.
As an aside: if you can afford cable TV at $60/mo, a cell phone at $50/mo or car insurance at $100/mo, you can afford basic health insurance. According to eHealthInsurance.com, Blue Cross and Aetna both offer PPO plans in the MD/DC area as low as $80/mo.
Now before you write telling me I don’t need to worry about insurance and have no idea what the costs are, be warned I pay $500/month for my coverage with Blue Cross. I just made it a priority. If I can do it, so can the “millions” of uninsured Americans.
And what does Slickie have to do with Hillary’s Presidential skills? Yes, she is self-made. Yes, she is highly educated. But, will she be able to run the country? Has she done anything noteworthy in the Senate? I haven’t heard of anything, so someone please fill me in……
BFT said it best –
“When governments get too big, and people with “nutty ideas†take over power is when we get the greatest human tragedies.”
Tho it seems that my fellow reps are the ones with the nutty ideas in this case, ya?

I am glad that the meat industry is protecting us from skid mark contaminated panties. Aren’t you?
The first amendment gives Americans the right to express their opinions. Apparently, this doesn’t apply to the internet.
Of course, I’m not going to be quiet. I’d rather be a test case than a sheep.
The country will be a free speech zone for as long as we let it.
See how your guy voted
Does someone deserve special treatment because they are on a sports team? I certainly don’t think so. Of course, the University is not tripping over itself to hang various football players accused of sexual assault Lets see if what works for the goose works for the gander, ya? Somehow, I think that it won’t. After all, our team members deserve special treatment because they are special people. And special people can’t pass anc block, but thats a topic for a different thread.
Given this and our record thus far, I’m sure Ralph Friedgen would rather be here:
